Tonawanda, NY (Aug 5, 2016) – The City of Tonawanda is exceptionally proud to welcome Allison Harrington, AICP as the Tonawanda Main Street Program Manager. The Tonawanda Main Street Program is a new organization in the City that is focused on addressing the needs of the Main Street area and furthering community-based goals. The City of Tonawanda is supporting the establishment of this program as it transitions into a sustainable grassroots community organization.
Mayor Rick Davis states, “I am excited about the Main Street Program and the opportunities it will bring to our Main Street area. We have a lot of great assets here and the organization of this program and a key point person to represent the Main Street area will help to position them to excel and attract new business to our community.”
After a detailed selection process, Allison Harrington was chosen as the new Program Manager. Ms. Harrington is an urban planner and designer with over 10 years of experience working with communities on a variety of planning projects. In 2015, she established Sustainable Planning Design, LLC, an urban planning and design firm in Buffalo, NY. Prior to the start of her own firm, she worked as a senior urban planner and urban designer at peter j. smith & company, inc.
Ms. Harrington has worked with over 40 different municipalities, helping each community identify, establish and work toward their vision for the future. The majority of her work has concentrated on community revitalization, particularly waterfront and downtown revitalization.
Allison states that she is looking forward to advocating for Tonawanda, “Tonawanda’s Main Street Program is a great opportunity to help the community develop, organize and achieve goals for the City’s unique Main Street area. I am thrilled to be a part of this community effort and look forward to being a central advocate for Tonawanda Main Street.”
